Don't Over Use Personal Development Blogs!

Shiftshappen-site.com appeals to a lot of people who read personal development blogs because they are looking to improve themselves and their lives. They are searching for ways to feel more satisfied with their lives, happier with their bodies and to make greater contributions to their families, communities, and work places.

I understand this because I am the same way. The desire to lead a more fulfilling and happy life is one of the reasons that Shiftshappen was born. That desire burned inside of me and it led to a lot of hard work and a lot of unhappiness about who I was as a person and the life that I was leading.

There was a moment that changed my outlook on life. One day at the beach, with the warm sun over head and the tropical breeze flapping my umbrella, all the noise in my head melted away. In that moment, I had a powerful knowing: you are good enough, just as you are. You already have everything you need and your life isn't lacking anything.

If you read enough personal development blogs, then this is probably something you have heard before. But, reading it in personal development blogs and knowing it are very different things. It changed my life once I realized that it was true for me, too.

Once you accept who you are and where you are in life, everything changes. As Wayne Dyer says, "When you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change."

Some changes that I experienced were:

1. I had much more energy

2. I had more restful sleep

3. My mind was quieter, as though the volume knob of the radio had been turned down

4. I was happier and more optimistic

5. I was more generous and more willing to help others

6. You are satisfied with who you are

7. Instead of comparing yourself to others, you accept yourself and you accept others for who they are

8. You can handle the natural ups and downs of life

9. No matter its physical condition, you appreciate all that your body does for you. Your legs, skinny or thick, get you where you need to go. Your eyes, small or large, brown or blue, enable you to see sunsets and the faces of the people you love.

10. You begin to see the miracles in every day life

You can never be nor can you ever have more than you have in this moment. This moment is all that there is and it is impossible to be or to have anything other than what you are or what you have. Therefore, in this moment, you are enough and you have enough. You don't "need" more than you have, because, in this moment, you don't have "more" and you are just fine. You don't need to improve yourself and you don't need to improve your life, because the truth is that you and your life are already complete and perfect.

Once you "get" this, it is liberating. It becomes easier and easier to do what you love, not what you "should" do. And, you are grateful that you have the ability to do it. Its a gift.

You are already complete, whole and perfect. Once you accept this, you stop pushing yourself to "get ahead" and start enjoying where you are. Life becomes magical.

After Years of Misery from Anxiety and Depression, I Gained My Life Back

Exhausted? Stressed-out? Overwhelmed?

Hi,

Courtney here, author of this site. When I developed anxiety and depression, I went to a psychologist, a psychiatrist and a physician, and to be truthful, in my experience, these people couldn't really help.Therapy sessions, yoga and getting more exercise lessened my anxiety symptoms, but did not stop them for good.

In fact, I later learned that because I was living in a constant state of low-level stress and anxiety, the chemicals in my brain had changed, making me more anxious and depressed. Clearly, merely managing my symptoms was not enough - in fact, following "the doctor's orders" made things worse....
