Conquering Fear
Conquering Fear: Fear is One of Our Biggest Obstacles
Being afraid to make a mistake is one of the most common things that we all do to ourselves. It can be so easy to forget that
whatever is going to happen, is going to happen, regardless of how we feel. Life doesn't change because we are afraid. Life
is made up of energy, growth, and renewal. It doesn't even recognize what fear is. Flowers grow, the rain comes, the wind
blows; they aren't afraid about it. They just go about the business of doing what they are meant to do.
The other night, I was taking a walk after a heavy, late afternoon summer downpour that broke the stifling heat. I noticed a brilliantly pink rose that was straining and striving to grow towards the sun. It had lost a large petal in the storm, but it was unyeilding to the pounding rain. That flower had no doubt that it was meant to be brilliant and bask in the early evening sun, so why do we accept that fear is a normal part of life?
No matter what you decide to do, and no matter what the outcome is, you truly can't lose, because life is always providing.
Being afraid to make a mistake, worrying about what others will think, or not wanting to lose is a waste of your precious
time and energy. Since life is always providing, then when people are afraid, they are forgetting what life is all about;
they have lost that connection. People can't make a wrong choice because there is truly no right choice either.
Here is my secret for conquering fear: remember that it is such a joy and it is so liberating when you realize that there is no way to live the "right life" because the "right
life" doesn't exist - there is just "life".
And, don't be afraid that you will lose anything or anyone, either, since life is always busy growing, nourishing and providing. If there is something or someone in life that you feel you are meant to have, then life will send it your way when you are ready to receive it. In the mean time, that thing or person is being put to good use elsewhere.
Being afraid just makes the wait longer. When you are afraid, you are not ready to receive and be fulfilled. You are closed
off and unable to take more of what life has to give. When you haven't gotten the hang of conquering fear, you are shut down and you do not put yourself to good use in the world. Life sends things where they are best used. If you had $10,000 that you were obligated to give away, who would you give it to? My guess is that you would give it to the person who would put it to good use. It is the same thing with us and life.
Think, "My fear, worry, and anxiety are only temporary. I choose to be of service rather than stay stuck in fear." Life is here to help us all. When you are ready to receive, it will provide for you; it knows no other way.
